Program Options

Maximum number of exercise questions. You may only want to do the first 20 (or whatever number) of questions in the exercises. You can set that number here. Leave it at 150 to practice all of the questions in a given topic. Even if there aren't 150 questions in that topic, the program will show all of the questions that are available. There are currently no more than 150 questions included in any given topic, so don't worry that you might be missing some.

Show toolbar buttons on main screen - You can show or hide the toolbar (under the menu items) on the main screen here.

Sounds after answering questions - Set this to 'No' if you don't want to hear the sounds. You can use your own sounds by replacing the files called 'GSound.wav' and 'BSound.wav'. These two files good (correct) sound and bad (incorrect) sound are located in the program's 'data' folder.

Hints - Set this to 'No' if you don't want to see the explanatory messages that come up when you put the mouse pointer over the messages.

Vosotros - Set this to no if you don't want to practice the vosotros form in the exercises. You'll find a complete discussion of why you would or would not want to change this option in the Vosotros topic.

Print table backgrounds - This saves ink when using inkjet printers since only the text is copied without the background color.

Log file - You can keep a record of your progress on the exercises by checking 'yes'. If you check 'For more than one user', then you will be asked for your 'user name' (you can invent one) when you finish the exercises.

Use password to set Options. If you are a system administrator - for example, the person in charge of the language lab or a teacher using StartSpanish with your students - you can be sure that you are the only person that can control the program options by using a password. If you use this option, DONT FORGET TO WRITE DOWN YOUR PASSWORD AND KEEP IT IN A SAFE, SECURE PLACE. WE CANNOT RESTORE YOUR PASSWORD FOR YOU!!!

Changing the width of the topic window - This is not in the options menu, but you make the window on the left where the topics are listed either wider or narrower by using the slider underneath it.

After making your changes, click the Exit /Save button if you want to save them. Choosing the Cancel button will leave things as they were.
