Spanish Whiz Features and Screenshots
Here are some (not all!) of Spanish Whiz's components and features. This is not an exhaustive list. For larger screen shot images, click on the images you see on the left. Please note: System Requirements: Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7. (no Mac version, sorry)
| The Spanish Whiz main window is the starting point from which you can practice your Spanish vocabulary either in written exercises (Multiple Choice or Fill In the Blank type questions), practice listening and pronunciation, or read up on Spanish grammar (in the Help section). You can also create your own word lists in the Personal List menu. | |
| The Help File shows the basics of Spanish grammar with explanations and examples. | |
| You can practice vocabulary in Multiple Choice format. Notice that if you have already learned a word, you can choose not to continue practicing it using the "Delete question" button. Also, you can choose to do the exercises from English to Spanish or from Spanish to English (not shown in the screenshot). | |
| You can also practice in Fill In the Blank format. As with the Multiple Choice questions, the vocabulary is more or less difficult according to which level you choose (1, 2 or 3) on the Main screen. | |
| In the Listening and Pronunciation sections, you can listen to verbs and other common vocabulary. You can also record yourself and compare your pronunciation to the native speakers. | |
| The Listening and Pronunciation sections also include example conversations in common situations such as shopping, eating in restaurants, etc. | |
| Spanish Whiz includes dictation practice to help you with your listening and writing. It includes vocabulary, number and sentence dictations. | |
| Five vocabulary / listening games are included in the program. This shot shows the Scrambled game, where you try to unscramble the Spanish words shown on the right. | |
| You can keep a log of your progress on the exercises to see where you need to spend more time. | |
| Spanish Whiz includes a customizable dictionary to help you look up words. | |
| For a lighter touch, a large collection of jokes are included in the program both in the original Spanish along with their translations into English. |
